2017 Formula 1™ Season Update – Is Lewis Hamilton Going to Win It All?

Formula 1™ racing is the most exciting and coveted motor racing series, while also being the most popular annual sporting series in the world. Fans from all over are at the edge of their seats wondering what unpredictable thing is going to happen next!

Here is a recap of all of the races so far this season:

March 26th Rolex Australian Grand Prix, unexpected winner, Sebastian Vettel ended the 5-year drought for Ferrari with his 1:24:11.762 race time.

April 9th: At the Heineken Chinese Grand Prix race, Lewis Hamilton redeemed himself and clinched a race win for Mercedes in Shanghai.

April 29th: VTB Russian Grand Prix, Valtteri Bottas from Finland clinched his first ever Formula 1™ race win with a race time of 1:28:8.743, just .627 seconds ahead of Sebastian Vettel.

May 14th: Gran Premio De España Pirelli, Catalunya, in Barcelona, Lewis Hamilton beat out title rival and points leader Sebastian Vettel by 0.051 seconds with a final race time of 1:35:56.497.

May 28th: Racers lined the grid in Monte Carlo for the race of the year, which every driver dreams of winning. Sebastian Vettel redeemed himself after coming in second in Barcelona to win in Monaco with a race time of 1:44:44.340 putting him 25 points ahead at the top of the leaderboard.

June 11th: Lewis Hamilton clinched first place at Grand Prix du Canada, making up for his seventh-place finish in Monaco with a race time of 1:33:05.154 and a record-breaking lap 65th pole lap of 1:11.459.

June 25th: Daniel Ricciardo of Red Bull grabbed his first win of the 2017 Formula 1™ campaign during the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.

July 9th: Valtteri Bottas clinched the winning title at the Austrian Grand Prix with a race time of 1:21:27.430. While Lewis Hamilton drove the fastest lap of the race in an attempt to catch up, he didn’t make it to the podium and landed in fourth.

July 16th: Lewis Hamilton redeemed himself, claiming first place in his home country at the British Grand Prix. Hamilton is now only one point behind title rival, Sebastian Vettel.

July 30thSebastian Vettel clinched the win at the Hungarian Grand Prix, claiming his fourth win of the season as Lewis Hamilton was the ideal team member and stuck to his word by letting Valtteri Bottas pass him on the final corner of the final lap.

August 27thAfter solidifying the title of “finest British sportsman of his generation”, Lewis Hamilton clinched the win at the Belgian Grand Prix, his 200th Formula 1™ race and his fifth win during the 2017 season. 

September 3rd“Beast mode all the way,” were Lewis Hamilton's words after becoming the first driver to win back-to-back races during the 2017 season. Hamilton claimed this is was moment everything changed as he dominated the Italian Grand Prix from start to finish.

September 17th Lewis Hamilton asked for a miracle to win the Singapore Grand Prix, and a miracle was presented to him by his title rival, Sebastian Vettel as he crashed out in the opening lap and Hamilton emerged from the debris and smoke to take the lead and win his third race in a row.

October 1st Upon celebrating his 20th birthday the day before the race, Red Bul's, Max Verstappen, gave himself the best birthday gift and clinched his second win of the season taking only four laps to overhaul Lewis Hamilton's lead.

October 8thHe does it again! Lewis Hamilton takes home the checkered flag in Japan placing him in a 59-point lead over Sebastian Vettel.
