TUDOR United SportsCar Championship: What's Happened & What to Expect

USCC Point StandingsThe TUDOR United SportsCar Championship is more than halfway complete and the top contenders are slowly showing themselves.

In earlier races there were teams that showed a LOT of promise and were even believed to be a sure-in for the championship title; however, you can’t really predict a front-runner so early in the game.

Now that the Championship has passed its pivotal mid-season point, we’re able to see just how well the teams are stacking up and more importantly, who are the front-runners and who has to play catch-up.

Before the TUDOR Championship heads to the Northeast Grand Prix at Lime Rock Park, let’s quickly recap where everyone stands and who we should be looking out for in the next few races!

Circuit of The AmericasIt’s Always Sunny in Florida

#90 VisitFlorida.com Racing team is feeling optimistic about their title chances as they captured five podiums from the seven rounds, including wins at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca and Watkins Glen. The Mobil 1 SportsCar Grand Prix proved to be more difficult than anticipated as they missed making podium by a few points.

All aboard the Action Express

#5 Action Express Racing is hustling hard to close the gap between them and VisitFlorida.com Racing, sitting on 214 points before the Northeast Grand Prix at Lime Rock Park. Action Express Racing took a win at the Sebring International Raceway. They just missed making the podium at the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.

#31 Action Express Racing

Closing the top three is #31 Action Express Racing. The battle to the top is extremely close, as they are within four points from second place. For the past few races #31 Action Express Racing and #5 Action Express Racing have been pretty much neck and neck. Once they get to the Northeast Grand Prix, we could very well see a shakeup in the top three.

Lone Star Le Mans 90Another Win for the Wayne Taylor Brothers

#10 Wayne Taylor Racing is proving they should not be disregarded in the Championship as they just won their second race in the TUDOR Championship at the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park. The second, and much needed, win brought them to fourth place and just shy of four points from taking third. The Wayne Taylor Brothers look to have found their rhythm, and they hope to keep it as we move forward.

Ganassi Racing Looks to Break Into the Pack

#01 Chip Ganassi Racing is doing all they can to earn a win this season. They’ve managed to capture two podiums from the seven rounds. At Watkins Glen, which has been one of the most difficult and famous courses on the calendar, Chip Ganassi Racing managed to land in third place, proving they still have a shot at the title if they can manage to capture a win.

Michael Shank Racing’s Opportunity

#60 Michael Shank Racing is slowly working its way onto the podium. Michael Shank Racing is proving they have what it takes to take the Championship title after capturing three podiums from the seven rounds. It seems they know the route they need to be taking to make sure they earn multiple wins before the season is over. After coming in third place at the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park they will have a lot to prove at Lime Rock Park.
