FIA World Endurance Championship
Six straight hours of racing at Circuit of The Americas – thrilling to watch, but nerve-wracking to execute! This flagship event for Lone Star Le Mans features endurance racing as drivers anticipate the cornerstone event, 24 Hours of Le Mans. Fuel economy and machine reliability are key factors in endurance racing, as the goal is to make as few pit stops as possible due to refueling and mechanical failures.
Practice and qualifying will take place Thursday and Friday, while the main event will close out the weekend on Saturday evening. Engines will rev at 5 p.m. while the sun is still overhead and the race will finish at 11 p.m. under the stars, guaranteeing a unique experience you’ll never forget! Autograph sessions will take place earlier in the afternoon and the fan track invasion will occur as soon as the race finishes that evening.
North America’s newest and most popular sports car series, the Tudor United SportsCar Championship, serves as one of the featured events for Lone Star Le Mans weekend. Four classes exist in this series: Prototype, Prototype Challenge, GT Le Mans and GT Daytona. Though qualifying is separated by classes, all are included in the race itself.
Practice starts on Thursday and continues into Friday, with qualifying also occurring that day. The race itself starts mid-day on Saturday and lasts for nearly three hours! If fans arrive early enough Saturday morning for the warm-up, they’ll have the chance to attend the driver autograph session immediately after. Fans can also get up close and personal with both the drivers and the cars during the track invasion directly following the race!
Lamborghini Super Trofeo
Super Trofeo North America is a five-part series raced at tracks across the United States and Canada. The competition at Lone Star Le Mans is the very first race of this series in 2015! Similar to the Porsche GT3 series, this group of races is also a one-make series and can only be run in Lamborghini Cup cars.
Qualifying and Race 1 will go down on Thursday the 17th, while the second and final race of the weekend will take place in the early morning hours of Friday the 18th.
Porsche GT3 Cup
The Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge is a series that will take place in two parts over the course of the weekend. Semi-professional drivers compete in a one-make championship that seeks to level the playing field by putting all drivers behind the wheel of the Porsche 911 GT3 cup car. Drivers’ skills and handling are at the forefront of each race, which is intended to groom drivers for the Tudor United SportsCar Championship.
The action starts with qualifying and Race 1 on Thursday the 17th, and Race 2 will take place on Friday the 18th.
