Ben Keating has racing coursing through his veins. A son of Texas, Keating first started driving in 2006 after his wife had bought him a driving course as a Christmas present. Money well spent, you could say. Ever since, Keating has become an embodiment of American endurance racing.
Having made the jump to the American Le Mans series in 2013, he would finish 5th place in the GT-challenge series in the 12 Hours of Sebring. That same season, Keating scored his first victory at the Circuit of The Americas™ in front of friends and family.
In 2015, Keating would repeat the trick while racing in the Tudor United SportsCar Championship, only this time it was different. Dodge Vipers have always been a part of Keating’s life: He won five career championships in Vipers – including the 2011 and 2012 SRT Viper Cup.
A Dream Fulfilled
Having raced the 2013 season with Porsche in the GTC Class, Keating bided his time in the hope of being able to run in the Tudor Championship with a Viper. Keating’s time had come; he took a leap of faith and bought and developed the first car, with the help of Bill Riley, for what would become the Viper Exchange team. A realization of a life-long dreamed fulfilled by grit and determination.
Entries into the 24 Hours of Le Mans series have followed, with the No. 53 ViperExchange.com/ Riley Motorsports Dodge Viper GTS-R having strong showings by being out in front and setting the fastest lap in class this past year. Unfortunately, mechanical issues ultimately sidelined the team in the 23rd hour of the race.
This year, Viper Exchange has again sponsored two Vipers, with Keating taking shifts in both the No. 93 and No. 33 in the 24 Hours of Daytona running back in January. The team will also be present at the Circuit of The Americas for the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship weekend, which kicks off September 15th.
With our exclusive hospitality, you will get the chance to meet and greet with the legend that is Ben Keating. Owner of Viper Exchange, Keating will give fans a unique insight into the ins and outs of racing life, the sacrifices that have to be made, the lows of experiencing mechanical issues that simply cannot be helped, and the extreme highs and sheer exhilaration of winning when it all comes together.
