We’re less than seven races away from the 2015 FORMULA 1 UNITED STATES GRAND PRIX™ and the race for the trophy is tighter than ever! We’re halfway through the FIA Formula One Championship, and there are some clear headliners edging their way to the top.
Of course Petronas’ fiery duo are still fighting to keep their place and even amongst themselves, the “friendly” rivalry is well noticed. However, just because the Petronas’ brothers seem to have the top two spots doesn’t mean the next few races won’t shake up the top!
Even though the top three appear to be impenetrable, the rest of the standings see a lot of shuffling. With every race that passes, the standings give us a closer look at how everyone is performing and what trends we can expect to see happen in the next few races.
Let’s take a look at the current standings, who looks promising, and who’s falling behind!
The top 10 looks pretty stack. After a few races the names in the top 10 have been consistent and haven’t changed much but within the 10, these guys are fighting it out pretty hard for a piece of the pie.
The proclaimed "Golden Boy" has continued to astound with his performances. Lewis Hamilton is currently the one to beat and sitting pretty with 169 points right before the British Grand Prix. Not that anyone doubts Hamilton's ability but there are a few eyebrow raises as Nico Rosberg inches in closer.
Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel's once-promising title challenge is getting stuck. Vettel had high hopes of pushing for a fifth Formula One title after winning the second race of the season in Malaysia, but he has failed to finish on the podium in the past two races and trails championship leader Lewis Hamilton by 49 points.
Vettel has been struggling for the past few races to find his momentum, something that he should have found a couple races before.
Rosberg knows that he has to turn it up a notch to beat Mercedes' team-mate and world champion Lewis Hamilton. Rosberg trails Hamilton by 10 points in the title race ahead of Sunday's British Grand Prix at Silverstone. However, the German has won three out the last Formula 1 races. Rosberg is one of the few drivers out there that seems to be able to get close to Hamilton on the track and Rosberg is not letting up one bit!
Ferrari's Raikkonen is struggling at Ferrari, who have told him he must improve his form if he is to be retained in 2016. Ferrari's main concern had been Raikkonen's qualifying form, but two errors in the last two races have raised worries about his race performance as well.
Bottas had a strong race at Silverstone a year ago to finish in second position despite being caught out by the weather during the qualifying. Valtteri Bottas is expecting to pull through for Williams with a strong weekend at Silverstone. Bottas is very familiar with Siverstone and has performed well there in the past so it should be interesting to see what happens with him.
