Circuit of the Americas™ is a World-Class Racetrack Unlike Any Other

Circuit of The Americas™ is a world-class motorsport and entertainment venue in Austin, Texas. The Circuit is located nine miles from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport and less than 15 miles from downtown Austin. Sitting on 1,500 acres of land, COTA has hosted some of the biggest names in racing, action sports and music since 2012. The venue draws hundreds of thousands of fans from all over the world.

This world-class facility hosts the most prestigious racing events in the world, including the FORMULA 1 UNITED STATES GRAND PRIX™, MotoGP™ Red Bull Grand Prix of the Americas, Pirelli World Challenge and Lonestar Le Mans. The 3.41-mile track was specifically designed to challenge even the worlds-best competitors, providing an unforgettable and thrilling experience for fans.Observation Tower at Circuit of the Americas

This 20-turn, counterclockwise circuit presents obstacles one must see to believe, including a 133-foot hill at turn 1. Right off the bat this circuit poses challenges that no other circuit does. Within the track there is an Austin360 Amphitheater, the largest in all Central Texas that comes with a 251-foot signature observation tower.

Construction of Circuit of the Americas™ began in 2010 and was funded using only private money. It wasn’t until June 13th, 2012, Charlie Whiting, the FIA-appointed Race Director for Formula One™, proclaimed he was satisfied with the circuit construction. The first layer of asphalt was place on August 3rd, 2012, the final layer on August 14th and the circuit was fully completed by September 21st, 2012.

Circuit of the Americas™ officially opened one month later on October 21st, 2012 and Mario Andretti drove a ceremonial lap in a Lotus 79, which is the car he drove when he became the first American to win the World Drivers’ Championship in 1978.

To this day Circuit of the Americas™ continues to be a leader in environmental awareness and contributes almost $1 billion in economic impact to Central Texas through tourism and yearly operations. The circuit has aided in making advances in the education and scientific fields, including solar car technology.
